Dr. Don Hemerson, DVM, shares his thoughts on The Strock™:

“After thirty-two years of general veterinary practice
and always seeking an alternative to the Elizabethan
collar, The Strock™ is finally an alternative that works
because it’s not detrimental to the animal and people
will find it pet-friendly, whereby they were not using
the E-collar as prescribed. I think The Strock™ is the
best alternative I’ve ever found as a viable treatment
to help heal leg injuries. The Strock™ provides a
protective, waterproof wrap which straps over the
animal’s body yet fully allows for air flow down the
legs which is crucial in the healing process. That is
always an issue with leg injuries because air and blood
must be able to flow to the wound to facilitate healing,
but dogs are prone to lick at wounds if left open. In
the past, prescribing the use of the Elizabethan collar
was the only medical option available to veterinarians
to prevent dogs from licking their wounds. Of course,
our patients dislike the E-collar tremendously and it
usually adds stress to the animals because of its
limitations in mobility and vision. This was definitely
detrimental to the patient both physically and
mentally. Owners also didn’t like the way their dogs
looked or behaved while wearing an E-collar, so more
often than not, they were not using it and the treatment
and healing of their dog’s wounds was often delayed.
Now, thankfully, there is finally a true alternative
available for all veterinarians that will allow air and
blood flow down the legs, keeping the dogs mobile and
comfortable, keeping wounds clean and dry and the humans
don’t mind having to put The Strock™ on their dogs.
It’s a win/win all around and I, personally, am thrilled
to have found this new product! I will be using Strocks™
instead of the Elizabethan collar whenever possible
because I know it will alleviate undue stress to the
animal and also increase compliance with their humans.
Each patient wearing The Strock™ will begin to heal much
more quickly and completely. We’ve waited a long time
in the veterinary industry for this product, and I am so
glad it is finally here! I highly recommend The Strock."
